Abigail Anderson grew up in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, and thus has a love of rural areas and the environment. After completing a Bachelor of Health Science at UQ, majoring in Public Health, she is passionate about improving the health and well-being of communities worldwide, such as Manali, and eager to learn more about India’s health system.
Balake de Zwart has a passion for rock climbing and hiking in the outdoors for which he has completed the Overland track in Tasmania and Mt. Kilimanjaro. His ultimate aim is to finish the Seven Summits and the Annapurna Circuit. Seeing as his other hobbies include sports, such as rowing and soccer, and listening to a wide range of music, he is sure to enjoy the events that happen around the hospital!
Kyle Christensen grew up between Australia and the United States and developed an affinity for travelling at a young age. Thus far he has spent time living in three separate countries and hopes to continue broadening this in the future. He is looking forward to engaging with patients and staff in the hospital and immersing himself in a new culture during his stay in Manali.
Rebekah Gracias has a love for travelling. Having completed studies in International Public Health, she is passionate about the pursuit of international health equality and hopes to one day work in global health. As someone with Indian heritage, Rebekah is looking forward to learning and helping as much as she can in Manali.

We can’t believe that we will be heading over to Manali in just over  2 weeks! We will be starting our first day in the Lady Willingdon Hospital on 20th November 2017, which happens to be its 82nd Anniversary!

Before heading over, the Executive Committee organised a wonderful Farewell Dinner and OGM in our usual spot at Punjabi Palace, where the tradition of the napkin map was drawn and bestowed on us 😀

It’s November!

We can’t believe that it is already November and we will be visiting the Lady Willingdon Hospital in just over a week (November 21st will be our first day!!). With over $8000 raised (and counting…), its been an incredible year, and we would like to take a moment to thank those who have made this possible.

The Toowong bowls club have been strong supporters for the MMAP in the past, and they continued this tradition by providing an amazing venue for both the Bowls and Trivia nights. We couldn’t have done it without them, and we hope to continue our close association in the future!

We would also like to like to make a big thank-you to Ann and Chris McMahon for organising the fantastically successful curry night. From live music, to Bollywood dancing and delicious curries, it was an amazing night and the MMAP are very grateful to have had you both on board.

We hope to share many of our experiences at the Lady Willingdon hospital in the coming month, so keep an eye out!!
